| What is the Education Foundation of
Greenville (EFG)? The EFG is an organization founded to generate and distribute financial and other resources to the Greenville Public Schools to enhance or supplement educational programs and provide extended educational opportunities. It operates independently from the school district, but works closely with the Board of Education and the Administration. Who runs the EFG? A Board of Trustees, selected from a cross section of the community in the school district, is responsible for the operation of the Foundation. Where does the EFG receive its funds? The primary source of funding is from gifts and memorials from alumni, current and former GPS staff, the business community and other citizens. Gifts also come from individuals remembering the Foundation in wills, insurance and estates. All gifts are tax deductible and are acknowledged with a receipt. How are EFG funds used? Thanks to the generosity of its donors, the EFG has awarded more than $180,000 in teacher grants and scholarships to K-11 GPS students since it was founded in 1991. Each year the EFG awards the majority of its annual donations reserving only a small percentage for administrative costs. |
