School Nurse Services
Greenville Public Schools strives to promote and maintain a healthy environment for all our students, staff, parents and community members who visit our buildings.
Partnership with Spectrum Health Healthier Communities
The school district in partnership with Spectrum Health Healthier Communities, employs a full time Registered Nurse, Britni Burch, RN. Mrs. Burch provides health services for all of our district buildings.
To assist our staff in providing safe emergency and routine health care to our students, we need parent feedback and communication.
Action Plan of Care
If your child has any of the following health conditions we ask that an Action Plan of Care be completed for each school year. These conditions are:
- Allergic/Anaphylaxis Reactions to food, insects, latex, etc.
- Cardiac/Heart condition
- any other health concern regarding routine or Possible emergency care at school.
These Action Plans can be obtained at school or by calling Britni Burch, RN at 616-225-1000 ext 8169.
Medication Administration Permission Form
Greenville Public Schools is a drug free school zone. In compliance with this and our school policy, ANY STUDENT, requiring Prescription or Over-The-Counter medication requires a Medication Permission slip signed by both the parent and physician. This must occur if your child will be self-medicating such as many High school students do (ie. Tylenol, ibuprofen etc.) or if the staff at your child's school dispenses the medication to your child. This form must be received at school before any medication can be dispensed or for your child to bring to school to self medicate.
This form can be obtained at the school office or by calling Britni Burch RN at 616-225-1000 ext 8169.
"Do I send him/her today or not"?
It can be difficult to know when to keep your child home from school due to illness. The control of communicable diseases in our schools is always of concern. Simple "Rules of Thumb" of when to keep a child home are if any of the following are exhibited:
- uncontrolled cough and runny nose
- rash without a diagnosis by a health care provider
If you are in need of assistance in finding a family physician or dentist or possibly have questions regarding health insurance for your family, please call Britni Burch, RN at 616-225-1000 ext. 8169.
Greenville Public Schools recognizes that many of our families have gone through financial changes and hardship. Parents as well as the school staff realize a student's health is important to their academic success also.
