Don't Forget!
January is School Board Recognition Month. Greenville Public Schools would like to take a moment to recognize the individuals who approach their volunteer work like a full-time job and with extraordinary dedication as they contribute hundreds of hours each year leading Greenville Public Schools. James Anderson - Since January 1996 Brian Gardner - Since January 2023 Michael Huff - Since September 2022 Richelle Lentz - Since November 2022 Charlie Mahar - Since January 2019 Kire Wierda - Since November 2016 Maureen Wolverton - Since January 2023 This month, we encourage all members of the community to thank a board member. Please take this opportunity to show our year-round appreciation for these servant leaders and begin to better understand how local trustees work together to prepare today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders.

Don't Forget
Greetings GPS Family! It's that special time of year where your fellow neighbors, GPS staff, and GPS students tempt fate and plunge into the icy waters of a frozen lake to benefit the Special Olympics.  The Polar Plunge will again be close to home at Turk Lake and take place on Saturday, February 3rd.  If any of you are brave enough to join the other crazy people, it's really not too bad.....just a bit of a shock to the system.  AND...it's for a great cause.  The Special Olympics do some pretty amazing things for some of our very own students right here in Greenville.  It's a VERY worthwhile organization and this event is one of their biggest fundraisers. If you would like to join the FROZEN JACKETS team, please e-mail (mike.walsh@gpsjackets.org) and we'll be happy to get you the information you need to sign up. If you'd rather support the FROZEN JACKETS by donating some much needed funds, please do so by any of the following methods: 1.  Donate ONLINE by going to this website: https://give.classy.org/frozenwalsh24.  Click on the "Donate" button and follow the directions. 2.  Cash.  Please send all funds to your home school and they will make sure the team gets it before the deadline.  :) 3.  Check.  Please make checks out to Special Olympics. THANK YOU FOR WHATEVER YOU'RE ABLE TO DO IN SUPPORT OF THIS WORTHY CAUSE!  If you have a free minute and want to see a short video of last year’s Frozen Jackets, check it out here: https://youtu.be/TjKqI48KLZs?si=vmPN05BJNKAJQpK4.

Some of our 5th grade students at Baldwin Heights were convicted to reach out and make a video to promote our school-wide care project to collect items for Have Mercy. They had the idea, created the script, and did all the filming themselves! Special thanks to Mrs. Kenney for allowing these students an opportunity to creatively express what was on their hearts for such a good cause. https://youtu.be/iy2X7m5sObs
