Reminders for Next Week - No School on Monday, May 26 (due to the holiday)! Thursday, May 29 is a HALF DAY for GMS & GHS Students, and Friday, May 30 is a HALF DAY & LAST DAY for all GPS Students!

Greetings Baldwin Heights School Family!
Unfortunately due to impending weather this Friday, we have had to MOVE OUR FIELD DAY TO MAY 28. We are incredibly sorry for this tremendous inconvenience. Many of our activities involve water and with the weather in the 40s in the morning and low 50s in the afternoon this would not provide our kids with a positive experience.
We would love for you to sign up and volunteer on Wednesday, May 28 for our new field day event as we will need more help than ever: https://bit.ly/bhfielddayvolunteerNEWDATE
We, of course, completely understand if you are not able to be there now that the date has changed. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

Nominations for the Elmer Russell School Bell Award will be accepted until Friday, May 30! Please take a moment to recognize an exceptional Greenville Public Schools staff member or community member/organization who has demonstrated outstanding dedication by submitting a nomination or two! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfzTZ9KIF8zAbk6ZEOVjnQgz9MVrZ1p4jgymZ7n8UXyLr1pZw/viewform

To help us plan for the upcoming 2025–2026 school year, please take a moment to let us know your family's plans. This form should be completed once per student currently enrolled in Greenville Public Schools. Thank you for your time and support!

5th Grade Parents!
We have some end of the year events to make sure are on your radar. The kids visit the middle school today with all the other 5th grades from across the district for an introduction to what they'll be in for next year. This is just for the students.
May 27 is our 5th Grade Graduation Ceremony in the BH Gym @ 2pm. Parents are welcome to attend and take their kids home after the ceremony.
May 30 is the last day of school and we'll have a Clap Out starting around 11:30am. Parents are welcome to come and line up in the front of the school as the kids do a lap around the building with all the other students celebrating their last day of Baldwin Heights!
We are going to miss this amazing group of kids!

Greetings Baldwin Heights School Family!
The district would very much like your input about the school climate at Baldwin Heights. This link is to a survey that will help to provide our school with an overall understanding of how our BH families perceive school climate along four dimensions: school connectedness, school safety, school orderliness, and peer and adult relations. There is also a short section about reading.
The survey is 24 questions where you simply rank how much you agree or disagree with statements about our school climate. This data will be very important as we have dialogue at the school and district level about how to improve the school climate at Baldwin Heights. The deadline is THIS FRIDAY. Thank you so much for your help!

Another Medium-Long Post Alert from Mr. Walsh…
I continue to be humbled each and every year I’m in this job. I want to thank the Daily News and everyone who voted for the Reader’s Choice Awards. Having school spirit is a trait that I share with most of the staff in Greenville Public Schools and certainly Trisha Dunham over at Walnut Hills is one of those staff who are more than deserving of this recognition as well.
I also want to recognize all of the principals in Greenville who work diligently each and every day for the betterment of all students in GPS. They all deserve Best Principal as we all work collaboratively as a team: Jennifer Maher at Walnut Hills, Keisha Peters At Cedar Crest, Hans Daum at Lincoln Heights, MaryBeth Taylor, Todd Boyer, and Katy Beebe at GMS, Danelle Nauta, Mark Haist, and Kristen Ritter at GHS. Every principal you know puts in a tremendous amount of time for their buildings and school families and I couldn’t be more proud to work alongside such great leaders.
How can I even describe what it means to be recognized like this in my role as principal of Baldwin Heights? I would have to answer that question by saying that in order to understand what’s behind a “Best Principal” award, we would need to give out a whole bunch of other awards to the HUNDREDS of people who make it possible. It can’t be an award that belongs to a single person. I would not be the principal I am today without the ENTIRE BALDWIN HEIGHTS COMMUNITY. The staff in this building, and throughout the district, give every ounce of themselves to make a difference in the lives of our children. Our community is incredibly supportive. Every Baldwin Heights parent takes pride in our building and has demonstrated time and again that they are willing to do anything for these kids.
So you see…Best Principal really means BEST STAFF, BEST PARENTS, BEST COMMUNITY, BEST STUDENTS….and BEST FAMILY. If it weren’t for my wife, my kids, my grandkids, my friends, and the influence of my own parents…I wouldn’t be half the man I am today.
I am incredibly grateful for all of you for allowing me the honor of being the principal of Baldwin Heights Elementary. With all of your help and support, we will continue to GREAT things for our school family and entire Greenville community.
Sincerely,
Mike Walsh
